One of China’s most famous teas is Long Jing, and the renowned West Lake variety grows just a day trip away with Shanghai & Beyond. Your journey begins on a high-speed train that whisks you to scenic Hangzhou in an hour. We’ll leave the city life behind as we cruise the winding road to the YangMeiLing tea village where the Ying family welcomes you as honored guests. We’ll hike up the trail to learn about the ancient skill of harvesting tea leaves and enjoy rare photographic moments during the harvest. Among the tea terraces, you’ll be introduced to Long Jing’s culture and history. After our descent, the Ying family will serve a generous lunch of seasonal cuisine and host a tea tasting lesson on determining quality LongJing tea. We’ll also see how the tea is roasted and processed. In the afternoon, we’ll take a stroll near West Lake’s scenic shores while learning more about the area’s history and legends.
Please note: Passports are required when riding the high-speed trains. Hiking is moderate and may be a challenge for those with special physical needs. You can choose to sit out the hike and sip tea while enjoying the view.
