Michael Wang of Shanghai and Beyond comes from the countryside, where farming and cooking are still a major part of the culture. On this walk, Michael will share his favorite fresh produce and recommend ways to prepare it that will make you fall in love with Chinese veggies! As we visit the markets, we’ll also discover the remains of the Old City’s southeastern section, an area that’s far from tourism venues and in the beginning stages of urban development. Here, street food vendors and colorful markets still thrive, and within the lanes are hidden architectural gems, including some of the city’s oldest homes. We’ll have an opportunity to sample street food as we walk through the maze of the old alleys.
