Old Shanghai is known for its typical lane house style, the lilong. First built in the 1850s with stone gates, and later with small gardens in the front, this style spread across the city. However, with the modernization of Shanghai, they are disappearing. Carolin Billetter will be our guide as we take an adventurous tour through the hidden pathways in Shanghai. Join us as we walk through this “urban jungle”, spotting the architecture that was once so popular throughout downtown Shanghai.
