Tang Chang Gen owns a small shop on a local street in the Jing’an district. His main business is refurnishing and fixing antique/old furniture, but his biggest passion in life is the Deng Zi, a stool, all handmade without a single nail! Our guide Lisa Zhu will take us to visit this local carpenter, who is also an artist, and he will demonstrate part of the production process. Mr. Tang will share his life experiences after bearing witness to all the changes in this city over a half-century. We will also explore that constantly changing neighborhood – the Shanghai LongTang life. Come and join us for a family-friendly tour and appreciate this disappearing Chinese craft!
