Considering the recreational focus of Lu Xun Park and the cultural celebrities’ street, Duluon Lu, it’s no surprise that the Hongkou area in the northern part of Shanghai has a very relaxed atmosphere. It was here where, in the 1920s and ‘30s, Chinese literati and revolutionaries lived and worked side by side. Carolin Billetter will lead us through China’s history of revolution as she shows us this hidden area of Shanghai with its own unique charm. Find the secret places where these rebels lived, hear their stories and ideas for a new China, and find out what it is like to live there today.
