Marco Polo is known as one of the first Europeans to visit China and the author of The Marvels of the World; a book describing the miracles he saw. But the things he described were so strange that it was believed he had invented the stories. When asked by a priest on his deathbed to reveal that his stories were untrue, Marco Polo responded, “I did not tell half of what I saw, for I knew I would not be believed.” But the book raises more questions than answers. Did Marco Polo really come to China? Can he be credited for bringing noodles to Italy? Art historian Susanne Pohl will share his incredible life story and introduce us to the medieval world of Marco Polo.
