Join Janny Chyn from Shanghai Pathways for a trip to the Suzhou Pearl Market…The destination for freshwater pearls in China! First, we will see and learn about the process of pearl harvesting at a mussel farm. Each person will choose a mussel to be opened and discover the surprise— what pearls are inside? Information will be shared during our day about grades of pearl quality and how to know whether pearls are genuine or fake. After we take a break to eat our packed lunches we’ll go to the pearl market with its hundreds of small booths. There you’ll find pearls of all shapes and sizes. Arrange for custom-made pieces if you wish— for yourself, or as wonderful holiday presents!
