The colonial times of Shanghai were stylish, luxurious, and full of abundance. Wealth was present in the form of architecture, interior design, fashion, and art. Being a first-class metropolis at that time, Shanghai became a center of the Art Deco style with fancy buildings and elegant interiors.
Walking with Carolin Billetter along the streets and alleyways of the former French Co (ncession, we can still see its former glamour and find this special “haipai-style” of Shanghai Art Deco. Along the route, Carolin will tell us about how Art Deco made its way to the “Paris of the East,” about its development, and the special niche it found here. Join us for a wonderful stroll through the nicest part of the city, while learning about Art Deco and hearing many stories of famous and notorious inhabitants.
