The plum blossoms bloom in Suzhou’s Guangfu Scenery Spot from approximately late February until mid-March. Yoho guides will walk us through the plum forest Xiagxuehal (means “fragrant plum forest like a sea of snow”). We will enjoy their fragrance and camera buffs can take pictures of the natural beauty of the area. Next, we will taste many delicious local dishes when we eat lunch near Taihu Lake.
After we indulge in the local cuisine, our group will ride the bus for an hour-long drive to the quiet water town of Jinxi. With its more than 2500 years of history, Jinxi is located in Kunshan, in the Suzhou region. Compared to other water towns near Shanghai, Jinxi has maintained a simple, tranquil, and elegant lifestyle.
We will take a boat ride under bridges that date back to the Tang, Ming and Qing Dynasties. After the cruise, we will continue our journey to the Ancient Brick Museum (home to 2300 pieces of various types of bricks, including China’s first brick from more than 5000 years ago), and the Mud Workshop of Mr. Ma Ruote (clay sculptures focusing on farmers and village life). We will also witness many handicrafts along the streets.
