High tea has been one of the most popular social events in Shanghai since the British came to town in the 1800s. As Chinese citizens gained wealth and started to pay more attention to their diet, they developed their own version of high tea by using a lot of fruits, herbs, and supplements. Today, our guide Lisa Zhu will introduce us to Chinese high tea in the Former French Concession area. While enjoying a cup of delicate Chinese herb tea and a healthy local snack, we will meet Mr. Xie, a local health specialist and nutritionist. He will tell us about all the fascinating ingredients that the Chinese have being using forever which others are just now discovering.
