Capsule Shanghai is a new, Cutting edge gallery established in the quaint lane house at the heart of the Former French Concession. To provide context for the exhibition “Feng Chen – Solo Show,” Art Historian Julie Chun has scheduled the artist Feng Chen to provide a guided talk about his inspirations for his first solo show in China after his two-year residency at the Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunste in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Feng incorporates modern technologies into this work and explores the interactions among lighting, sounds, and frequencies, while simultaneously utilizing traditional materials such as ink or marbled paper (ebru). The exhibition at Capsule will showcase, among other works, a new multiscreen video installation that interacts site-specifically with the architecture of the charming lane house.
