Documentary Film Screening “Beijing Beseiged by Waste”

Please join us for a Documentary Screening with Nitin Dani, Founder and & Director of Green Initiatives. The Documentary “Beijing Besieged by Waste” focuses on the spectacle of waste, excrement, detritus, and rubble upon the land surrounding Beijing. It was filmed by an award-winning photographer Wang Jiuliang. Wang traveled to more than 500 landfills to document Beijing’s cycle of consumption through poignant observational visits with the scavengers who live and work in the area.

About Green Initiatives:
Green Initiatives (GI) is a nonprofit organization engaged in the practice of educating the community and creating solutions to local environmental problems by helping companies to develop Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). GI has organized over 300 events since its inception in 2009, which has been attended by over 20,000 people, including Shanghai’s longest running monthly sustainability forums.

About Nitin Dani, Founder & Director, Green Initiatives:
Nitin is an architect by professional qualification and an environmentalist at heart. He has previously lived and worked in Bangalore, Singapore, and Milan. He has been based in Shanghai since 2010 where he co-founded Green Initiatives. He also works as a Project Director at GIGA, an organization that works on cloud technology, software and standards to accelerate the growth and development of healthy buildings.

Cost:
RMB 150 (includes a glass of soft drink or wine. All proceeds from this film screening, minus the drinks, will go to Green Initiatives.)
