Escape the summer heat and travel to Qinghai province which is located on the Tibetan Plateau. Not only is it the least densely populated province (with 5.2 million people), but it is also the birthplace of the current Dalai Lama. The trip begins with a visit to the Old Town of Tong Ren where over six ethnic groups can be found. Then we continue to the multi-colored clay scenery of Danxia Canyon – a wonderful place to wander and photograph. On our trip to return to the capital city, we will visit several historic sites including the Gau-tama (wooden) Monastery, also known as “Little Imperial Palace”. For more details, click “Qinghai”.
