Get ready for fireworks! The Chinese will be ringing in the New Year in a spectacular and noisy fashion! Lunar New Year is the most popular Chinese family celebration as it marks the end of the winter season and is the one time during the year when most Chinese families gather together from near and far. Join our Shanghai Expat Expert, Lisa Zhu, as she takes us on a night tour of the beautiful Yu Gardens Lantern Festival (Yuanxiao) and enlightens us with its history and culture. There will be photo opportunities with beautiful lanterns strung throughout the paths of Yu Garden leading to the Nine-Bend Bridge and the Tea House. We’ll solve New Year’s riddles and taste tangyuan― rice dumplings with sweet or meat fillings! Bring your camera and bundle up for a colorful and celebratory walk.
