As a part of a new Community Outreach endeavor, we will meet together to view and discuss China themed films for which all the proceeds (except the cost of coffee and tea) will go towards SEA approved charities. Why watch a film with a group when you can enjoy it in the comforts of your home? The discussions which are generated afterwards are worth the trip to meet and gather as we learn a little bit more about our host country.
“Shanghai Ghetto” is a documentary about the thousands of Jews who took refuge in Shanghai. Combining historical footage with interviews of survivors, this movie sensitively captures the first-person accounts that sheds light on the city of Shanghai which all of us currently call “home.” Narrated by the Academy Award winner Martin Landau, the documentary is produced, edited and directed by Dana Janklowicz-Mann and Amir Mann.
