The Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center was built to promote the Shanghai World Expo 2010 and also show visitors the city of the future. Although the 100sqm large scale city model is the centerpiece, the museum also features exhibits offering a broad historical perspective of the city. Shanghai started as a small fishing spot and developed from a harbor city to an ultra-modern metropolis with many large scale urban development projects. Carolin Billetter will lead us through this must-see sight of Shanghai, as she ties Shanghai ́s history together with its architectural landmarks and urban development aspects such as transport, energy and urban society, ending with a glimpse into the future ….
