Every two years, four young up-and-coming Asian artists are selected for the prestigious Hugo Boss Asia Art Award. The four nominees have been invited to the Rockbund Art Museum and commissioned to create site-specific pieces as they compete for the RMB 300,000 stipend. Julie Chun (Adjunct Professor of Art History) has been reviewing exhibitions in Shanghai as an art critic for prestigious international art magazines for over 6 years. She has conducted interviews with and have reviewed exhibitions in which each of the four nominees have been involved. She will provide a private guided museum talk for SEA members so that you can better comprehend what all the fuss is about Chinese contemporary art. She will introduce artistic concepts and terms while discussing curatorial strategies that can enhance or weaken the process of exhibition-making. Come join us for a cultural afternoon and select who you think should be this year’s Hugo Boss Asia Artist.
