Where the Tibetan Plateau gives way to dramatic mountain landscapes that unfurl across southwest China, a truly extraordinary experience awaits us. The Linden Centre is the perfect place to experience the intimate beauty and culture of China and is dedicated to preserving and sharing the cultural heritage of Asia’s timeless villages. This trip will take us to engage with local people, study traditional arts, visit stunning landscapes and enjoy a serene stay in a distinguished and elegantly appointed historic mansion in one of China’s best preserved ethnic villages.

Day 1
Take an afternoon flight to Dali via Kunming. Upon arrival, we will transfer to the Linden Centre.

Day 2
This morning we will visit a typical Bai house and a tie-dye/handicraft village. After lunch, we will have time to explore the old town. After our return in the afternoon, we will enjoy a mouth-watering dinner prepared by the Centre’s two renowned chefs. After dinner, we will relax in the bar/café with wine or tea as we listen to a brief discussion on the history of the Dali region.

Day 3
In the morning we will visit the local Xizhou market and some of Xizhou’s oldest homes where we will enjoy a three-course tea ceremony. We will continue to the former Flying Tigers radar station, followed by a two-hour horse cart ride to the “Tongue of the Lake,” overlooking the pristine Lake Er and the Cang Mountains, where we will visit various lakeside temples. In the late afternoon, we will return to the Centre for dinner.

Day 4
After breakfast, we will take a return flight to Shanghai via Kunming.
