How do you best describe a panda? Lively, gentle, naughty and clumsy. They are simply the most interesting animals in China! This trip to the Bifengxia Panda Reserve allows you to spend time working with the animals and enjoying the experience of a lifetime.
Day 1
We will take a morning flight to Chengdu where we will meet our local guide and have lunch. After lunch we will visit the Panda Research Center, Chengdu, where we will view pandas in habitats that closely match their natural environment. After our visit, we will drive for about three hours to Ya’an and check into the Hongzhu Hotel for one night.
Day 2
This morning, we will visit the Bifengxia National Park in the Ya’an Panda Natural Reserve. We have special permission to volunteer at the panda sanctuary and help feed the pandas and clean their habitats. In the afternoon, we will drive back to Chengdu and check into the Shangri-la Hotel for one night. After dinner, we will enjoy a unique show featuring the disappearing Sichuan performing art of Bian Lian (face changing).
Day 3
Early this morning, we will drive about two hours to see the giant Buddha of Leshan, the world’s largest stone Buddha statue, which was carved out of a cliff face by an 8th-century monk. The Minjiang, Dadu and Qinyi Rivers meet near the feet of the statue as it faces sacred Mount Emei (with which it shares its UNESCO World Heritage status). In the late afternoon, we will transfer to the airport for a return flight to Shanghai.
