Formerly called Ching the Chen, Jingdezhen is synonymous with Chinese porcelains and has been home to fine china since the Jinde period of the Song Dynasty (1004 to 1007). Ceramics museums and an ancient kiln site illustrate its historic prominence. This tour includes a visit to Wuyuan Town, which brings us the opportunity to explore an untouched ancient village. On this trip, it is our pleasure to have Professor Joe Zhou travel with us. Professor Zhou has thirteen years of experience working at the Shanghai Museum and is skilled in introducing the various categories of Chinese art and culture. He is currently a consultant for special projects with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, China.

Day 1
Fly to Jingdezhen in the morning. Upon arrival, we will transfer to 4-star Kai Men Zi Grand Hotel. After lunch, we will visit the Ceramic History Museum. Here, Professor Zhou will present a lecture on Chinese ceramics. The museum complex was designed in Ming and Qing dynasty style and includes display halls, workshop rooms, glazing areas, storage rooms, residences, a library and administrative areas. We will learn the history of Jingdezhen and the process of ceramic production in ancient times.

Day 2
This morning, we will drive to Fu Liang Ancient Prefecture and visit an official’s house which is representative of the political system of the Qing dynasty. In the afternoon, we will have leisure time to do last minute shopping before catching a night flight back to Shanghai.
