Art Deco in Shanghai - Walking Tour with Spencer Dodington

Art Deco, as a style, has become an iconic symbol of the famed Jazz Age. It stormed the world as a dynamic phenomenon, wiping away the historical and traditional European designs that had dominated city skylines beforehand. It logically follows that Shanghai, the Asian city most known for the decadence and excesses of the pre-1950s, should be host to the best Art Deco buildings in the region. On this walk we will explore the different phases of Shanghai's Art Deco development, discussing the flamboyant and progressive minds who sought to leave their marks on this city's urban landscape. Additional information will be given for visiting other Art Deco buildings in the city, and purchasing Art Deco furniture and accessories for your personal collections.
